ModElla ~ Modelling Top Tips

Always wanted to become a model?

Want to know what it’s really like!?

Here are some of my Modelling Top Tips, alongside some insider secrets…from my own experiences!

The wonderful world of modelling… from the glamours of the job to the, well, not so glamorous parts.

No two days are the same and the results of a shoot, make it all worth it in the end!

Top Tip 1 ~

Work that lighting! It is ALL about the lighting!

Learning to use the lighting is the key to capturing magnificent shots! It can MAKE or BREAK the final images! Once you have established your main light source, work towards it!

Be aware of the shadows, for example raising your arms or tilting your head at the wrong angle will create negative shadows! Experiment with the light source, moving your arms and face to achieve the perfect lighting!

Top Tip 2 ~

Try new styles!

Throughout your modelling career you will have the opportunity to explore different styles. Mine include; vintage, wedding, fashion and so many more…Even if it is a style that you have never tried before, trust in your team of professionals… they have invested time and money in the shoot too and are eager to get the best results!

I am always inspired by the way that shoots come together.

Top Tip 3 ~

Practice really does make perfect when it comes to modelling!

It sounds crazy but perfecting your poses in the mirror can help you to create confident poses in front of the camera.

Learning how to relax your face, soften your eyes and accentuate your neck are key!… ‘Easy’ you’d think, but these poses often feel un-natural without a mirror and so practising them helps you to gauge and re-create the perfect pose during your shoot!

Best Tip ~

Most of all have fun!

It sounds ridiculous, but enjoy every moment! I believe it really shows in the images produced if the model is driven, keen and motivated to achieve the end result with the rest of the team!

By working hard and genuinely being willing to go the extra mile, you will go far! The key is to work hard and trust your team!

There have been times when I have been at a shoot for endless hours, in and out of hair and make-up, shivering cold in a skimpy outfit in England’s typical rainy weather and I just take a moment and remind myself of the results and enjoy what I’m doing!

The results are always worth it!
